The original request for this installation was to distribute music to three different rooms, which were an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a separate dining room and a climate-controlled indoor swimming pool.
The system had to have individual room control and the speakers had to be discrete in order not to impact on the aesthetics of the room decor.

THE INSTALLATION

The client spent some time here at Cymbiosis, so that we could demonstrate the concept of a multiroom system and how it would integrate into their home. After expressing an interest, he was also shown how a home theatre could be integrated into a multiroom system.

After visits to the client's home for detailed discussions, it was decided to separate the open plan room into three distinct areas - lounge, kitchen and breakfast area. This would allow music or video to be played in only the required area or any combination of areas. By doing this, we were also able to advise that the lighting could be controlled through the same system, allowing scenes to be programmed for each area and be available at the touch of a button via the multiroom keypad or automated remote control.

I-pod connectivity was an important requirement and was therefore conveniently repositioned and the audio and video signal routed to all rooms and integrated into the system control. A games socket was also installed in the same manner.

Speakers installed in the swimming pool area were a type specifically designed for that environment. The pool changing room was also fitted with its own audio and keypad control.

Future-proofing was addressed, with high definition wiring distribution being installed. Feeds were taken to the family room, the kitchen, the master bedroom and the swimming pool. There was full distribution in all areas of DVD, Sky HD, DAB tuner, music hard drive server and i-pod audio and video.

Audio was also fed outside to the patio area for alfresco dining, where it can be controlled from the external keypad or the remote keypad control. Two other outdoor areas were pre-wired for further expansion. A feature which the clients tell us has been the cause of many a comment and smile, was the use of outdoor speakers built to resemble a rock!

These clients were a pleasure to work with and fully appreciated our expertise. They were also very open to suggestions that would improve the system to enhance their lifestyle.
