Rega Turntables

Rega, designed and built in Southend-on-Sea in the UK have been making high-performance audio equipment for over 30 years, with the current design team lead by founder Roy Gandy.

Rega have been making some of the best British turntables for the past 30 years. The stylish and high-performing new Planar series brings Rega well and truly into the 21st century.

Rega have always been well-known for producing some of the best British turntables available. The classic RP series range has now been replaced by the new Planar range. Available in a full range of finishes and cartridge choices, the Rega Planar range is the perfect addition to any level of Hi-Fi system.

Rega Naia Turntable

Rega Naia Turntable

The Rega Naia turntable is the result of years of painstaking development which was used to create the now famous ‘Naiad’ test bed turnable. The Naia takes the best of this development and technology and transfers it into a production ready version without compromise. The Naia is packed with ground-breaking features, materials and technology developed by Rega over many years to reach new levels of vinyl replay.

The Naia takes Rega’s pioneering low mass high rigidity plinth technology to the next level by using a Graphene impregnated carbon fibre skeletal plinth with Tancast 8 foam core. This ultra rigid structure is then strengthened further using two ceramic aluminium oxide braces, the same material used to create the redesigned, resonance controlled ceramic platter with improved flywheel effect and complex profile.

Rega Planar 10 Turntable

Rega Planar 10 Turntable

For the Planar 10, Rega have used the most advanced materials and engineering solutions built around a supremely lightweight plinth to ensure the greatest level of performance.

Like its sibling the Planar 8, the Planar 10 was inspired by the ultimate Rega turntable, the Naiad. It was decided early on that instead of an evolution of the previous RP10, the new Planar 10 was to be developed and engineered to encapsulate the essence of the Naiad at a more affordable price. The Rega Planar 10 narrows the gap between itself and the Naiad even further by using more exotic materials, carefully selected to reduce mass and improve rigidity throughout the design. New innovations in hub bearing, sub platter, motor and drive belt design have led to even greater accuracy in turntable speed which directly improve sound performance.

The Rega Planar 10 features the new RB3000 tonearm fitted with an improved, low mass, precision bias housing. Rega have pioneered a completely new low mass, central hub bearing assembly with improved mechanical integrity. For the first time on a Rega production turntable, a ceramic top brace delivers ultimate rigidity and accuracy whilst creating the perfect platform between tonearm and central bearing. Finally, this entirely new player is controlled by their most advanced electronic power supply housed in a brand-new, full metal custom case designed to match the latest range of Rega electronics.

Rega Planar 10 TurntableThe RB3000 Tonearm uses the latest award winning Rega arm tube. Each one is meticulously hand polished (keeping mass to an absolute minimum) and has been completely redesigned to redistribute mass and further reduce stresses and resonances. This advanced design tube increases the stiffness and rigidity of the overall assembly, whilst reducing stress on the bearings even further.

A common problem for many skeletal design turntables is the inability to incorporate an effective dust cover into the design. Rega have constructed an outer frame that minimises contact between the inner and outer plinth. The only points of contact are three location devices on the feet, which centralises the inner and outer plinths perfectly. This not only allows the use of a dust cover but also makes set-up extremely easy. The RP10 can be used without the outer frame if so desired.

Rega Planar 8 & Neo PSU

Rega Planar 8 Turntable

The Planar 8 was inspired by the ultimate Rega turntable, the ‘Naiad’. Rega decided early on that instead of an evolution of the previous RP8, the new Planar 8 was to be developed and engineered to encapsulate the essence of ‘Naiad’ at an affordable price. Their aim was to deliver a level of performance far beyond what has been achieved at this price point before.

Every aspect of the Planar 8 is engineered to extract as much detail from the vinyl surface as possible. Rega have used the most advanced materials and engineering solutions built around a supremely lightweight plinth to ensure the greatest level of performance.

Rega Planar 8 TurntableThe Planar 8 is supplied with the new RB880 tonearm and Neo PSU as standard which offers electronic speed change, advanced anti-vibration control and user adjustable electronic fine speed adjustment to ensure total accuracy and control over the motor.

The outer frame of the previous model has now been removed and a new stylish, removable, single piece dustcover has been introduced further reducing the overall mass of the turntable.

Rega Rlanar 6 & Neo PSU

Rega Planar 6 Turntable

The Planar 6 has one goal, to reproduce your vinyl as accurately as possible. Rega has engineered every aspect of this turntable to extract as much detail from the vinyl surface as possible. Advanced materials and engineering solutions have been used throughout the design to ensure the greatest level of performance. The Neo PSU offers electronic speed change, advanced anti-vibration control and user adjustable electronic fine speed adjustment only found on the RP10 until now.

The Planar 6 now benefits from a single piece, machined aluminum sub-platter, a new 24v motor hand tuned and matched to its own NEO power supply and custom drive pulley fitted with the Rega upgrade drive belt as standard.

The Neo PSU uses the RP10 DSP (digital signal processing) generator built upon a high stability crystal. The DSP generator will divide the accurate signal from the crystal to the exact frequency required to turn the platter at the selected speed. The DSP generator will also produce a near perfect sinusoidal waveform to drive the motor. This, along with an efficient drive amplifier, generates a 24V AC balanced signal of less than 0.15% distortion, which is completely un-affected by any changes in the mains/line voltage and conditions. This then drives the turntables anti-vibration circuit, which is situated beneath the turntable.

Rega Planar 3 Turntable

Rega Planar 3

Replacing the multi award winning and five times What Hi-Fi? Product of the Year (RP3) was never going to be an easy task. It took the Rega team of designers headed up by Rega’s Roy Gandy, two years to develop the all new ‘Planar 3’ following the biggest re-design of the iconic ‘three’ model ever seen.

Rega’s team have worked tirelessly to improve every aspect of this turntable offering improved ergonomics, usability and first and foremost, sonic performance. The new ‘Planar 3’ is truly a new turntable for 2016 carrying over just two components from the previous model.

Rega Planar 2 Turntable

Rega Planar 1 Plus

The Rega Planar 1 has been the most successful turntable that Rega have produced, but rather than sit on their laurels, they decided to see if they could make it even easier to use and more accessible to the new generation of people discovering vinyl replay and so the Rega Planar 1 Plus was born.

The answer was simple; Rega’s engineers added a custom designed, high quality, moving magnet phono stage based around the multi-award winning Fono Mini

For the Planar 1 Plus, they wanted to optimise this circuit for ultimate performance so they have removed the USB interface and used the money saved to improve what was already a stunning disc stage.

The new built in stage offers the ability to connect the Planar 1 Plus directly to almost any system that has a standard line input via a standard phono to phono cable (supplied) or phono to 3.5mm lead. Simply put, there is no need to purchase a standalone phono stage or use an amplifier with a built in stage. Your Planar 1 Plus will connect directly to any standard Line Level input (such as you would connect a CD player to).

The Rega Planar 1 Plus benefits from all of the advantages of its sibling, the Rega Planar 1, such as a low noise 24v motor, precision hub bearing assembly and hand made RB110 tonearm with a factory fitted Rega Carbon cartridge. Set-up remains possible in under 30 seconds making this the easiest to use, and most flexible Rega turntable to date.

The new Planar 1 is the most user friendly Rega turntable to date. Now with preset bias force on the brand new RB110 tonearm, the Planar 1 is set up in seconds after unpacking. Simply slide the balance weight onto the rear of the tonearm as far as it will go, remove the stylus guard and start spinning your favourite vinyl.

Every single aspect of the Planar 1 has been meticulously designed to improve performance. For the first time the Planar 1 is now running a 24v, low noise, synchronous motor to reduce vibration transfer combined with our brand new RB110 tonearm fitted with Rega’s bespoke zero play bearings. Only sharing the drive belt, sub platter and dust cover from the outgoing RP1, this is truly a new turntable for 2016.

If you are looking to get back into vinyl and want serious performance that will last you a lifetime, then look no further.
