Peter returns to Singapore…

Posted by August 17th, 2013

As some of you may already be aware, I’ve just returned from another trip to Singapore, visiting some of my existing clients and some new ones too. The trip this time certainly was a jam-packed one. 10 days of setting up and upgrading Linn Sondek LP12 turntables and their a range of hi-fi systems, as well as visiting some of the wonderful local attractions with my daughter Nikki who was able to accompany me on a trip for the first time outside Europe.

Kudos Super20s with the customers existing Naim system and newly upgraded LP12.

A non Linn/Naim system here with three turntables available to play; A Micro Reference, a Walker Black Diamond and a nice full SE specification LP12 with a Chris Harban Woodsong fluted plinth.

While I was busy, Nikki was able to enjoy herself travelling around Singapore taking in the sites and visiting some of the many shopping malls and streets for which Singapore is rightly famous.

A half-day was spent in the wonderful Malaysian Panti rainforest. This did mean an early start at 6am, to avoid the majority of the queues at the Singapore-Malaysian boarder, which were larger than normal as it was a holiday weekend locally celebrating Singapore’s 48th year of independence. However, by just after 8am we reached the Panti reserve and we were able to spend about five hours walking there dodging the rain and looking at many exotic and interesting animals, plants and fungi. Some of the highlights included dusky leaf monkeys, giant ants and centipedes, and some spectacular butterflies and dragonflies. The leeches were less welcome!

Similarly, we were fortunate to be able to take a small local ferry and spend half-day on Ubin Island, walking through mangroves swamps and woodland. Again the benefits of getting up early were shown here, as we were able to see some of the wildlife in peace and quiet, before the holiday crowds arrived.

Many thanks to my clients here for enabling Nikki and I to take these wildlife trips, both of us really enjoyed them.

The final day Saturday 10th was taken up with visiting Singapore’s wonderful Botanical Gardens and I guess no trip there these days would be complete without a trip up to the top of the Marina Bay Sands hotel. A fantastic way to see and really appreciate the size and scale of Singapore.

All in all, a very enjoyable and memorable visit and finally here’s me enjoying a relaxed drink at the Marina Bay Sands before flying back to the UK:

I would just like to say thank you to all the clients and new friends that myself and Nikki met whilst we were in Singapore and the warm welcome that was extended to us by everyone. We hope to make another visit next year to see more friends, clients and sites.
