Linn LP12 45th Birthday Party

Posted by July 27th, 2018

The birthday party, which was held on Wednesday 25th was a great success with both sessions being well attended by expectant LP12 enthusiasts. Not sure whether that was because of the two birthday cakes in the shape of the LP12, or to listen to the real thing playing!

Our thanks go to both Katie and Garry from Linn, with Katie’s presentation of the history of Linn and the genesis of the Sondek LP12 proving both interesting and informative. All the guests who had brought albums along were able to play them on an LP12 featuring Urika II, Ekos SE, Kandid and Radikal through Klimax Exakt DSM and Exakt Akubariks. They were able to explain what they liked about the albums and it proved an interesting introduction to some new music for the other guests.

A draw was held at each session with the lucky winner receiving a limited edition Sondek LP12 print. It was then time to tuck into the cakes, each one a replica of an LP12, kindly made for us by Dawn Norris at The Cake Rooms Leicester. You can see more examples of her work here http://www.thecakeroomsleicester.co.uk/

They both went down well, with one of them even having a surprise of a chocolate orange in the centre! Yummy.

Everyone had a great time with both sessions over running, the second one going late into the evening as people enjoyed the cake and the music.

Thank you from Cymbiosis to all those who came along and made it such an enjoyable party.
