New Klimax LP12: the original and best…er Posted by Phil Mulvaney October 30th, 2021 Linn’s latest iteration of their reference turntable, Klimax LP12, produces an even more musical, pitch-perfect performance. With it, you’ll experience your favourite albums – both cherished classics and those freshly unwrapped – as if it were for the first time. Klimax LP12 now features new Radikal, comprising hyper-accurate speed management technology, a whisper-quiet power supply, and state-of-the-art motor design. Additionally, this turntable scales new heights of fidelity thanks to extensive experimentation in material science – culminating in the breakthrough that is Linn’s all-new, flagship cartridge, Ekstatik. New Radikal and Ekstatik MC cartridge are available now to order as separate upgrades for your beloved Sondek LP12 and are fitted as standard on new Klimax LP12 turntables from today. When you hear it, you’ll understand why Linn struggled to find a word for better-than-best! As mentioned above, new Radikal can be ordered as a separate upgrade for both the Akurate and Klimax Radikals at a cost of £1750.00. A trade-in deal is also available for anyone wishing to move from Akurate to Klimax Radikal, please contact us for details. In order to make their best cartridge ever, Linn needed to look further afield, and at more varied materials. They conducted extensive experiments; auditioning different materials and configurations for the body, inserts, cantilever, suspension, windings and leads. The result is Ekstatik – the new jewel in the crown of the Linn cartridge range. Ekstatik is available at a cost of £5500.00. Both Radikal and Ekstatik are on demonstration here at Cymbiosis so please contact Peter at [email protected] for more details and to book your own personal demonstration. And the eagle-eyed amongst you may have noted that the Fluted Plinth has also been reintroduced. By popular demand? ? Tweet Tweet Share Linn LP12 Turntable Upgrade
Dear Phil, I have read a lot about the excellent service provided by Cymbiosis to enthousiast music lovers. Although not one of your customers yet, may I ask a question about Linn’s recent Radikal annoucement Context first, I am the owner of three LP12. Two are with Valhalla and cannot receive a Karousel kit (an essential improvement to my ears). I am investigating on how to upgrade at least one of them. My main LP12 is fitted with a first generation Klimax Radikal. Reading comments on the web, it seems that if I proceed with a Linn upgrade kit at £1,750 my perfectly operational motor and board will be taken away from me (and recycledor binned) by Linn. Before I can make any decision, I need to plan the investment. I have not listened to the new Radikal but could imagine acquiring a brand new Accurate Radikal system. Is there any physical or practical issue that would prevent me to swap the boards between the Accurate and Klimax boxes? Purpose would be to upgrade my secondary LP12 (Ittok, Cirkus, Krystal) with my old Radikal motor and old board installed in the (brand new) Accurate box. And of course my main LP12 (Keel, Karousel, Urika, Ekos SE/1, AT-OC9xsh) would receive the new motor and new board in the Klimax box. Note that I will visit your shop on 4th Dec on my way to Scotland to pick up a LP12 jig that Wayne has reserved for me. Best regards. P. Reply
