An Exciting New Tonearm From Bool Audio

Posted by June 9th, 2026

Peter is absolutely delighted to announce that we have a brand new tonearm available, which should fill the gap left by the demise of the Naim Aro. The arm in question is called the Clear Wave Tonearm, which is designed and manufactured by Bool Audio taking inspiration from the Aro tonearm.

The Clear Wave Tonearm has been over three years in research and design by Phil Bool and his father. There are no bought-in assemblies, which meant building their own machinery capable of making the tonearm from scratch.

Drawing inspiration from that classic Aro-style unipivot, combined with the advantage of everything that has improved since 1987. CNC machining and CAM software have advanced enormously in that time: tighter tolerances, more complex geometries, greater consistency from part to part. The result isn’t just a more practical arm to live with, it’s a more precisely made one. The quirks owners learned to accept, fussy setup, awkward cueing, the lashed-on bias thread, are gone. It bolts straight to a Linn Sondek LP12 using the standard armboard, so installation takes minutes rather than an afternoon.

Phil sent a Clear Wave for Peter to audition and he was absolutely bowled over with the quality of materials and construction and enchanted with the superb and involving musical performance. It was an easy decision to offer the Clear Wave for sale at Cymbiosis and a demo arm was ordered forthwith and is now available for demonstration. Please contact Peter for details and to book your own demonstration.
